Rotoy believes that addressing the upcoming employment gap challenge of the 21st century is providing children with quality education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics – STEM – subjects as early as possible.
We want to prevent this labour shortage issue with our STEM toys by uplifting children’s interest in STEM and creating an initial knowledge base to introduce STEM careers at an early stage, reducing the hampers to these fields in the future.
Here we focus on the field of robotics and the “world language of the 21st century” – programming.
In the EU, women are significantly underrepresented in scientific and technical occupations, accounting for only 25% of the total number of employees.
Rotoy will help change this and aims to target girls at the same level as boys to enable early entry into STEM professions regardless of their gender. With such measures, we will address the imbalance in the STEM industry, by making the field more accessible in earlier cognitive stages and preparing children in the best possible way for the working environment of the coming decades – teaching 21st-century skills.

Fun & exciting learning approach with minimal parental assistance
We want to create a fun yet educative toy that offers an innovative learning process by a problem-solving method and engaging storytelling. Rotoy is a pocket-sized robot that is controlled with an already widely used tool in schools:
– BBC micro, a bit computer
– Microsoft Makecode, simple to use block programming
Long-term learning process with our subscription plan
We believe that the toy should offer long-lasting playtime and be educative at the same time. Rotoy will help your child develop STEM skills through our tailored-made missions that include the foundation of robotics and programming.
Quality screen time while learning robotics & programming at home
We want to bring a knowledge of STEM (including robotics and programming) courses to your home, through our digital teacher, Rotoy.
Instead of aimless games solely focused on passing time through blinking lights, repetitive sounds and images, Rotoy offers thrilling stories filled with challenging missions that are then tested on the physical robot, presenting concrete results and showing value in their learning.

In our starter kit, your will receive robot base in parts, microbit and batteries. Next to that, you will get a code to access your Rotoy profile, choose a story and start solving your first mission.
Every month, you will receive brand new package with additional robot parts, 3D printed roads or castles, and maps, that will help you solve your missions and continue the story.
Your robot can upgrade! Once you have completed all the missions, you can start new subscription with more advanced robot. You will be able to solve even cooler missions and become a programming expert.

Rotoy team was founded in Odense, a robotics hotspot and the birth city of H.C. Andersen- a storyteller. This inspired us to combine both into our idea. Our vision is to bring robotics and programming closer to both genders by making the learning process come alive.
Business Developer
Vedrana as a child always thought that robot toys are for boys, since there was no brand targeting their toys towards girls. Now she wants to give every girl a chance to find interest in robotics. Vedrana is responsible for our business development with a marketing background and experience.
Product Developer
Chris has always had a wild imagination and a love for technology. He would build and break stuff, to later fix it again, and make it better… or not. Chris is responsible for our product development with a robotics background and experience.
Lead Designer
In high school, Octavia pursued computer science, to her dismay, teaching methods felt outdated and with too much focus on theory. Through Rotoy, she would like to open the door to the underrated world of robotics to children. Octavia is responsible for design activities with experience in UX and Graphic Design.
We want to create a unique experience for every child. Kids will be able to create their own individual robot, to choose their own character and the story.
We will connect kids, parents and teachers in one Rotoy community, where everyone can share their success stories, troubles or advice to help each other and grow together.
Implementing augmented reality into our stories and missions will increase the experience of learning while playing with Rotoy.
